Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, also known as Roissy Airport (or just Roissy in French), in the Paris area, is one of the world's principal aviation centres, as well as France's main airport. It is named after Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970), leader of the Free French Forces and founder of the French Fifth Republic. It is located within portions of several communes, 25 km (16 mi) to the north-east of Paris. The airport serves as the principal hub for Air France. Charles de Gaulle Airport - also known as Paris Roissy - has three modern terminals offering travellers quality facilities and services. An excellent choice of restaurants, bars and shops, plus extensive banking and currency, business, first aid, visitor and special needs amenities are featured at Paris CDG Airport. The three terminals are connected by free shuttle buses and handle over 200,000 passengers daily. Terminal 1 handles international flights, excluding Air France, Terminal 2 Air France and other airlines flying to European destinations and Terminal T9 handles charter flights exclusively. Terminal 2 currently has five separate halls and is being further expanded to an eventual capacity of 50 million people by 2010.
